The hardest charity calls stay with the agent
Calls involving homelessness, a dying child or a bereaved parent can affect even experienced fundraisers long after the conversation ends.
The hardest calls are not technically difficult. They are the ones where the story is so sad that the agent carries it after the call.
Petitions reach people living the issue
Homelessness campaigns can lead to people who are themselves facing housing trouble. Children's charities can reach parents whose child died. Those are not objections to work around. They are lives the agent must handle softly.
The agents care, so it affects them
The stories can be devastating. Our callers do not become brilliant by learning not to feel anything. Their care is part of what makes the call good, and it can also make the work heavy.
The purpose helps them continue
Those calls often make the agents want to help the charity more. We also keep research work available so somebody carrying too much emotional pressure can move to a different kind of conversation without losing their place on the team.
